About Me

Hello there.

My name is Natalie James and I run the All Ears Counselling and Psychotherapy practice in Levenshulme which is in South Manchester.

I’ve completed four years of extensive training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at The Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy (MIP), which is a member organisation of  The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have  Diploma in Transactional Psychotherapy and a Certificate in Counselling Concepts.

During my training, I was “clinically endorsed” by MIP. In simple terms, this means I have been assessed by a UKCP registered trainer and have the skills to work with the public clinically.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and so I work in accordance with their Ethics and Codes of Practice.  I am fully insured by the Psychologists Protection Society.

For the benefit of my clients and myself, I am fully committed to my own personal and professional development through training, regular supervision and ongoing personal therapy.

Why work with me?

Well for starters, I have a very real interest in people. Stuff like behaviour, personality, why we do the things we do…. that sort of thing. I also have a  massive passion for counselling and psychotherapy, resulting from my extensive studies and my own therapeutic journey. I am committed to helping people achieve their goals and bring about positive change.

I started my own therapeutic journey several years ago. I can honestly say it’s the best thing I have ever done.  I have first hand experience of the benefits therapy can give – inner calmness, a greater understanding of  self, why we do the things we do. Ultimately, a much more positive and happier life. I think it is the one of the greatest,  if not the greatest, gift you can give to yourself and one you totally deserve.

If you decide to work with me, I will treat you with honesty,  integrity and respect; from an “I’m OK, you’re OK” life position. Together we will look at your presenting issues and what you want from therapy. We will then decide a way forward and work together to bring about the changes you want. I think the relationship between the client and therapist is very important. We will spend time building this relationship, going at a pace you feel comfortable with.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a magic wand so I can’t just make problems and issues go away. However I do see myself as a facilitator in the therapeutic relationship. Therefore I will be there to guide you when needed, offering you relevant and honest input. I can also teach you the basics of some really simple psychotherapy models. This will help you gain a better understanding of yourself and your life. Increased self-awareness is often the key to getting the life and happiness you deserve.

So that’s me and the way that I work in a nutshell.

If you’d like to know more or you want to make an appointment, please get in touch via the website or contact me on 07980 967 293. I’d be happy to talk things through with you.

The Therapy Room

I thought it would be useful to show you some pictures of the therapy room. Sometimes people can find the experience of coming to therapy a little daunting. Knowing what to expect from your surroundings can make the experience somewhat easier.

The room is private and self contained with its own entrance. This is a safe place where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely and in comfort.
